Household Considerations

The end of school term brings with it massive piles of trash.  Driving around University Campuses in Ontario on move in/out day the sidewalks are jammed with fibreboard furniture: often broken and smashed because it is too difficult to take apart, and on closer inspection the situation becomes even more reprehensible: ALL of that furniture which is broken and on the side of the curb is going to end up in the landfill.   Once there it sits for a long time in a huge pile, leaching glues, chemical and plastics that were involved in the maufacturing process.  We, at Our Paper Life, saw this and were sad… but then we got over it and decided to try to do something about it, by focusing on not only quality of the product but also the quality of the customer experience and the environment.  A student household should be furnished with furniture which is seamless with our lives: no hick-ups or headaches at any point.  We move around too much and have other priorities.

Think of this as an insurance policy: a smart insurance plan is the same as providing a house which will not have have eventual headaches.  A company, such as Aviva, provides protection from cars, health, home, life and retirement and we work with them in order to lessen future headaches. It is the same with furniture, though more temporal: lugging around the heavy, environmental disaster which is fibreboard furniture, loading up a car with it (or worse renting a car) and then throwing it out as someone elses’ problem is a headache that can be completely avoided.

Cheers,

Geoff
